The driver pulls into a parking space and walks onto the street. Although the driver is driving normally, the hood opens at 43 mph (69 km/h). The piece blocks the view of the road. The panel can be closed by the owner.
Although there is no audio, the owner appears calm about his hood opening. According to YouTube, the panel fell off the hinges and cracked some paint. He took photos of the aftermath, and then he drove back to the scene.
The trunk must be safe and secure as the driver travels at over 43 mph. However, the panel does not unlatch.
General Motors is aware and working to resolve the problem .
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has nine concerns about the 2020 Corvette. Eight are related to the hood opening during driving. On August 3, the most recent incident was reported.
