Dealer presentation: 2018 Jeep Wrangler and 2019 Grand Wagoneer

The next two Jeep additions are shown in leaked photos.

Another look at the next generation Jeep Wrangler as well as Jeep’s top-end model, likely to be the Grand Wagoneer. The blurry photos were taken by an attendee at a dealer event. He took the photos using a smartphone during a presentation.

These slides show the Jeep lineup, starting with the Renegade, through the Wrangler and Cherokee to the Grand Wagoneer ( The new Compass is oddly missing). The first and last of these vehicles grab our attention the most. Neither has been officially announced. This 2018 Jeep Wrangler is very similar to the spy photos. The rough-and-tumble SUV’s design won’t change much. It features large round headlights on either side of a seven-slot grille. The Grand Cherokee used this design cue to add thin LED running lights strips to the front fenders of this model. The spare tire will be attached to the swinging doors at the back. Rectangular taillights are rectangular and have an X-shaped inside, paying tribute to the smaller Renegade’s rear lighting.

We expect the next-gen Jeep Wrangler to be known internally as the ‘JL’ generation. It could debut at 2017 Detroit Auto Show in January. The new model will be produced in Ohio by the end of 2017. The key changes include the switch to lighter construction with some parts made from aluminum. Also, the Wrangler’s old five-speed manual with an eight-speed unit and the possibility of hybrid powertrains. In terms of size and appearance, the 2019 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is a significant improvement on the Grand Cherokee. The 2019 Jeep Grand Wagoneer has a larger face and a prominent chrome-trimmed grille. It also features all-LED tail-lights and headlights. The rear view shows a boxy, tall design with twin exhaust tips hidden low in the rear fascia. Although these photos don’t show much, it seems that this Grand Cherokee’s design will be more mature and sophisticated.

The Jeep Grand Wagoneer is a six-figure range-topper and will take on luxury crossovers from all over the globe. Jeep boss Mike Manley said that the Grand Wagoneer project was “moving forward” and suggested a price range of $130,000 to $140,000 for the model. It could be launched in 2018 as a 2019 model. It is possible that Jeep will offer two versions this vehicle: the Wagoneer and the more expensive, premium Grand Wagoneer.
