DeLorean releases a clearer teaser image of the new EV. It will be available August 18

The debut of the DeLorean is at the Pebble beach Concours d’Elegance.

We finally get a glimpse of the new DeLorean in the latest teaser. The company also announced that the model will be fully unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on Thursday, August 18. There, we also find out the name of the car.

The teaser image below shows the DeLorean’s driver’s side from the rear. The original roofline has a more arched design than the 1980s’ angular one. However, the louvers remain a part of the styling.

This DeLorean’s original slab sides have been replaced by fenders that extend from the main portion the rear pillar. The elongated side window frames are gone. Instead, a continuous panel runs along the back of the vehicle.

The taillights wrap around the body in full width. The lamp becomes thicker at the outer corner and has three stacked stripes.

To build anticipation, the DeLorean modernized this image and released it April 1.

According to the automaker, the DeLorean roadcar is part of the Concept Car Lawn display at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. This could indicate that the vehicle displayed at the event is the production version the company plans to sell.

Italdesign will be handling the design of the DeLorean. A teaser from an earlier version confirms that the new DeLorean has gullwing doors. The styling isn’t as prominent as the iconic model, but it does look more angular than the front.

The electric motor is a feature of the new DeLorean. The details of the system are still unknown.

Despite its wedge-shaped appearance, the original model wasn’t very sporty. The V6 engine was only 130 horsepower and 160 lb-ft of torque.

The DeLorean DMC-12 was not a huge success. The production lasted only two years before the company was bankrupt. The car’s iconic film Back to the Future was released in 1985. According to Box Office Mojo, the movie was the highest-grossing in that year. It was just as star-making as Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd.
