Also, the fancy Denali version of the vehicle will be shown.
It’s no surprise that the 2019 Chevy silverado was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show. We won’t be able to wait long to see its GMC Sierra cousin. Automotive News says the official debut has been set for March 1, in Detroit. This means that it won’t be displayed at the Chicago Auto Show. Instead, GMC is likely to host the public debut for the new Sierra at the New York Auto Show.
According to the same report, the Motor City event will be the location for the unveiling of the Sierra Denali fancier. The new Sierra will not be a carbon copy of Silverado’s. It will have its own design inside and outside for better differentiation. The underpinnings will be the same, however.
The new Silverado has lost up to 450 pounds (204 kg) in comparison to its predecessor. One can also assume that the Sierra has been on a strict diet of aluminum and steel. Chevy will have six engines across the Silverado range, including the 3.0-liter turbodiesel inline-six turbodiesel and the 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V8 units.
Two gasoline engines will be connected to a new 10-speed auto transmission. The smart cylinder management system will turn off “any number” of cylinders. Chevy calls it an “industry first Dynamic Fuel Management.”
The next-generation GMC Sierra as well as the Chevy Silverado will be in production at the Fort Wayne Assembly Plant. Customer deliveries are scheduled to begin shortly afterwards.
