Mercedes officially revealed the 2010 E-Class Cabrio, a redesigned Mercedes model, at the North American International Auto Show (Detroit)

Mercedes officially revealed the new E-Class Cabrio at Detroit’s North American International Auto Show.

The Carbio is based on the EClass Coupe and features a stylish styling and a retractable canvas roofing. The roof is designed to create a quiet interior for premium four-seater cabriolets with fabric roofs. Mercedes promises owners that they will be able have a “perfectly normal” conversation on the phone at speeds of more than 125 mph.

If you decide to lower your roof, the E-Class Cabrio is equipped with AIRSCARF (a neck-level heat system) and the new AIRCAP. The AIRCAP system redirects air above the interior using a windshield-mounted air diverter (which can be extended up to 2.4 inches). This creates a virtually draft-free environment that reduces interior noise levels.

European engine options include the 125kW (170 HP) E 220 CDI blueEFFICIENCY and the 150kW (204 Hp) E 250 CDI blueEFFICIENCY. The 135kW (184 Hp) E 350 CDIbluEFFICIENCY. The 135kW (184hp), E 200 CGIBlueEFFICIENCY. The 150kW (204hp), E 250 CDIBlueEFFICIENCY. The 150kW (204hp), E 250 CGIBlueEFFICIENCY.

Two engines are available in the U.S.

E350 Cabriolet 268 HP / 258 Lb-ft.

E550 Cabriolet: 382 hp/ 391 lb-ft.

The new E-Class Cabrio will be arriving at dealers in May in the U.S. (March 27, in Europe).
