Detroit: Volkswagen Passat CC Four Door Coupe Revealed

Volkswagen’s first four-door coupe, the Passat CC, made its debut today at the Detroit Auto Show. This model ’embraces differences’.

Volkswagen has unveiled their new Passat CC today in Detroit, presenting it to the public as a car that is ‘anything but mainstream. The new Passat-based coupe, whose concept is based on the Mercedes CLS model, is Volkswagen’s new CC. It is a vehicle that ’embracing differences’, from comfort and dynamism to a spacious interior to a sporty one.

The new CC rides 5cm lower than a standard Passat, and is 3cm longer than a sedan. It also has a sportier stance and accentuated fluidity. A new panoramic glass roof gives the car a more airy cabin.

Initial engine lineup will include a 160-hp 1.8-litre TSE unit and a 3.6–litre V6 FSI model that produces 300 hp. A 2.0-litre turbocharged FSI engine will be added to the range after its European launch in 2008’s second quarter. The power is transmitted to the Volkswagen seven-speed DSG gearbox. Drive is sent to either only the front wheels, or to all.
