Devel Sixteen Production Version Now Tested on Public Roads

One step closer to the realization of the hypercar with 5,007 horsepower

You won’t be surprised if the Devel Sixteen is dismissed as mere vaporware. The hypercar concept was introduced by the Defining Extreme Vehicles Car Industry LLC in 2013.. This is a result of a development that began as far back 2008!

It’s now in production and is being tested on public roads, according to a video released by the Dubai-based automaker. It was described as being tested on Italian roads.

The Sixteen’s 1,500-horsepower V8 version was tested last week on an Italian track. You can see the embedded video below.

Devel tested the Sixteen’s V16 engine last year but without quad turbos. It was not clear whether the Sixteen that was being shown to the public was powered by a V16 motor. We can confirm that this is the road car with 3,000 horsepower. The track-only version is claimed to produce 5,007 horsepower and 3,757 pound feet (5,094 Newton-meters). is claimed to be able to travel at 320 mph (515 km per hour).

The Devel Sixteen is powered, in case you didn’t notice, by a pair LS V8s that have been heavily reworked by Steve Morris Engines. Both the V8 and V16 road cars will be paired with a dual-clutch transmission, while the track car will have a dragster-style gearbox.

Devel is very active on social media to update its potential customers about its product. Although the company is already accepting orders, buyers will need to wait for delivery eight months after the development phase has ended.

If you are interested, the Sixteen will cost $1.6 million to buy the V8 version, $1.8million for the V16 road car and $2 million for a track-only hypercar.
