The Dodge Charger Hellcat is also compared to its less-powerful sibling.
Although the Dodge Challenger RT Scat Pack may not be the most powerful model in the muscle car lineup, it still boasts a 485-horsepower (362 kilowatts), 6.4-liter V8. This video shows two identical-looking models at the drag strip, competing against a variety performance cars.
First, the Ford Mustang GT’s Challenger Scat Pack is compared to it. The 5.0-liter V8 produces a similar 460 horsepower (343 kW) Although the Ford gets off to a faster start, the Dodge quickly makes up for the difference. The Mustang wins the quarter-mile in 12.03 seconds. The Challenger finishes the distance in 12.51 seconds.
The Challenger is next up against a Charger SRT Hellcat. It’s easy to see the tea leaves as to which car will win. The sedan, which has 707 horsepower (527 kW), accelerates to the finish line in just 10.7 seconds.
Next, a different Challenger Scat Pack is added. This car has blue tape behind its rear wheels, but no number. The badge on the front of the car indicates that it has the 1320 package. This includes an SRT-tuned adaptive suspension with drag mode and transbrake. It also includes torque reserve, line lock, torque reserve, and heavy-duty 41-spline halves. It’s actually racing a Tesla Model S. Dodge estimates that the 1320 pack allows a Challenger to cover the quarter-mile in 11.7 seconds. It doesn’t run nearly as fast.
Finally, the Challenger with green tape is back to race a Mercedes-AMG GLA45. Mercedes’ turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder is no match for the Dodge’s V8.
