It could be adorned with the ACR nameplate of the Viper.
We are still some years away from Dodge unveiling the next-generation Challenger. To continue to attract customers, the automaker will need more high-performance models. According to Mopar insiders the company is currently working on this. Mopar insiders claims Dodge is working on a Challenger-style track car to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the nameplate for 2020.
According to the publication, the road-racing Challenger could also ravage the Dodge Viper ACR parts box and steal an ACR badge. According to Mopar Insiders, the Challenger ACR may include additional dive planes, a carbon-fiber rear wings that can be adjusted and a front splitter that can be detached for maximum downforce. The Challenger ACR could have a driver’s only seat, with the passenger seat priced at $1. This is similar to the Challenger RRT Demon or R/T Pack 1320.
The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody, which is Dodge’s highest-tier performance model, has been discontinued. Its starting price is $77,945. A Challenger ACR model could be added to Dodge’s lineup, even if it is only for a year. The Dodge Challenger doesn’t need it. It’s 11-years old and still outsold both Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro in the third quarter.
Even after ten years, the Dodge Challenger is still a little anomaly. It was behind the Mustang and Camaro for the longest time. Although its crosstown competitors have introduced new models with more technology over the past few years, the Challenger continues to follow its own path. It’s successful. Dodge’s next challenger model will be a large two-door muscle car. Dodge also built a drag Challenger. It makes perfect sense to take it to the track next.
