These models will never die.
Stellantis is slowly getting over the coronavirus-related automotive industry crisis. The multi-brand company’s US sales reports for the second quarter showed a healthy 32 percent increase in sales. While some brands and models are growing, others are slowly losing ground. Let’s look at the numbers.
Stellantis’ Dodge brand was one the most successful in Q2 2021, with deliveries increasing by 42 percent over the previous year. With 22,363 sales, the Charger led the charge with a remarkable jump of 95 percent compared to Q2 2020. Even though the Dodge Dart was discontinued in 2016, its dealers managed to sell one Dodge Dart .
The story was similar for the Chrysler 200. It saw two sales in March and June of this year. The sedan was also discontinued by Sergio Marchionne in 2016, when he was the FCA president. He stated that there was not one “investment as bad” as these two. A single Chrysler Town & Country unit was also delivered to a customer.
Jeep’s sales increased by 19%, with the Wrangler holding first place with 69.020 deliveries in Q2. We were also pleased to see that the Grand Cherokee was doing well, with 52,726 sold. And, we were surprised to see that the Patriot returned with 4 examples.
The Stellantis brand Fiat suffered the worst results in America with sales dropping by 33 percent for the first quarter of this year, compared to the previous year. Fiat 500 sales dropped by 8 compared to 238 last year. Alfa Romeo saw a 34% increase in sales, and even the 4C sports car was up 8 percent (43 sales versus 40).
