Dodge must also go electric.
Dodge shocked the automotive industry by announcing plans to launch an electric muscle car in 2024. Although little is known about the model, the first official teaser suggests that it will be powered by an all-wheel-drive electric motor. We are confident that this is what Dodge needs to maintain its place in drag racing.
Video courtesy of DragTimes channel on YouTube This is a Dodge Demon versus a Tesla Model S Plaid in direct drag race . The clip begins with a brief introduction and then takes us to the drag strip, where we see the two competitors line up for three races. Although we don’t want to spoil the results of these drag races, there is virtually no competition between them.
The Tesla launches badly in the first race, but it manages to catch the combustion-powered muscle car just before the finish. The Model S Plaid wins the next two races with more ease. One commenter under the video said that the Model S Plaid won even more runs and that “you know you’re wrecked when the other guy can see your time while you’re still accelerating.”
Although the Demon was built for drag racing, the Tesla is clearly the clear winner. It has more than 1,000 horsepower (746kilowatts) as well as instant torque delivery and a supercharged V8 engine that is mated with an eight-speed auto. This gives it a clear advantage over its Demon counterpart.
Dodge will reveal its electrification plans during the fourth quarter of the year. Perhaps we’ll soon see the Dodge battery-powered muscle car beating a Model S at the drag strip. Enjoy the V8 Demon’s sound and the incredible performance of the electric sedan here.
