Drag Race: Lamborghini Urus Audi TT-RS, Porsche Cayman GT4, VW Golf R

Volkswagen Auto Group takes part in a drag race

Another Drag Race from Carwow. Over the years they’ve raced many vehicles, including trucks and Formula 1 cars. What have they done to prepare for the sprint this weekend? It’s not as spicy or unique as last year, but it’s still a family event.

The Carwow crew has assembled some of the most high-performance Volkswagen Auto Group cars for this weekend’s race. These include the Lamborghini Urus and the Porsche Cayman GT4, as well as the Audi TT RS and Volkswagen Golf R. But which one is faster? Let’s look at the statistics of each car.

The Volkswagen Golf R is the most affordable of the cars. Its turbocharged, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine produces 315 horsepower (235 Kilowatts) as well as 310 pound-feet (420 Newton Meters). The Golf R has a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, instead of the six-speed manual.

Next up is the Audi TT RS, which features a boosted five-pot engine. The TT’s fastest engine produces 400 horsepower (298 kilowatts), and 354 pound-feet (354 Newton meters). This is a lot of power for a 2.5-liter engine. The Quattro all wheel drive system should provide a strong boost at launch.

Although the Porsche Cayman GT4 is second in power, it is not as powerful as the Audi. The Porsche Cayman GT4 is a mid-engined car with a 4.0-liter flat-six engine. It produces 420 horsepower (313 Kilowatts) as well as 310 pound-feet (420 Newton Meters). At 3,075 pounds (1 395 kilograms), the Cayman GT4 car is also the lightest in this group.

The last but not the least is the Lamborghini Urus, which is a heavyweight. The Urus is the largest member of this group at 4,848 pounds (2199 kilograms). It has the stronger engine. Twin-turbo V8 4.0-liters produce 650 horsepower (450 kilowatts) as well as 627 pound-feet (627 lb-ft; 850 Newton meters).

These are some interesting points to be aware of. The TT RS’ torque advantage and traction advantage could allow it to jump into the lead. While the Cayman GT4’s lighter weight may help it pull ahead right from the beginning, the Cayman GT4 could have more power. But, Urus’s power could pull those two back in the end. The Golf R? It might surprise you or not. When you take everything into account, it turns out that three of the four candidates are quite closely matched.
