This is a clearly a mismatch but it’s an exciting matchup.
Cadillac CTSV four door sedan versus Dodge Challenger RT Demon – it’s a clear mismatch. We didn’t bother to hide the winner.
Both cars are winners in their respective classes. However, it is clear that the Demon would outrun the CTS-V on a quarter-mile drag strip. This is especially due to the Cadillac’s additional seats (and an extra passenger) and lower power. The Demon is intended to be a drag racing car, with an integrated “Drag Mode”, which is a first for street legal production cars. The real question is: How far could these two cars go? This may seem like an easy task for the Demon but the CTS-V was just over a second behind.
Wheels uploaded the video of the head to head battle between these American performance cars on Youtube. Although it wasn’t stated whether the cars were stock, they appeared to be. The Demon was configured with a passenger’s seat. However, you can remove many items from the car to reduce the weight.
The Demon’s 808-horsepower, 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI-V8 engine was under the hood. This put the Dodge at the front of the drag race almost creating a gap of two cars from the Cadillac. The CTS-V’s 640-hp engine didn’t take defeat lightly. Yes, there was a gap but it wasn’t what we expected. It didn’t take as much as we expected, despite the fact that the sedan had more seats and less power. It didn’t suffer as much, at least not so much.
The Demon finished in 10.29 seconds, traveling 134.04 mph, while the CTS-V took 11.65 seconds, travelling 127.11 mph. It’s not surprising that there was a 1.36 second time difference between them, we must admit.
