Richard Hammond will continue the DriveTribe spirit on his social media channels.
DriveTribe is closing down after five years. It was founded by James May, Richard Hammond and Jeremy Clarkson. The trio cites the “severe cuts in marketing budgets across industry” due to the global shortage of microchips, which has caused a decline in advertising revenue. The business closes at end of month.
Clarkson stated in the statement that “we’re all really sad that the industry has faced many challenges – not least the ongoing pandemic” His announcement was slightly less formal than May’s. He wrote, “But ultimately this is a company, and businesses will be kicked in the nads because of everything that’s happening in the world.” Hammond will continue the DriveTribe spirit on his own social media channels. He said, “Come join me on the channels together with many familiar DriveTribe faces while we keep the brand alive und the conversation going.” There’s some good news for Drive Tribe users. DriveTribe was founded in 2016 by Clarkson, Hammond and May. Grand Tour producer Andy Wilman also created it.
