The DS brand’s upcoming large sedan is now available.
A teaser video has been released by DS for the upcoming sedan. It will debut on February 24, according to the brand. Although the images aren’t very clear, it’s obvious that this premium sedan is either the new DS8 or DS9 .
The sedan features a wide, pentagonal grille with narrow LED headlights. On each side, there are small vertical lights. The back features creased lines, taillights that have a diamond-shaped pattern and taillights. The spy shots show it is a large sedan with large doors, a sleek roofline and big doors.
The spy shots and teasers don’t show the interior of the sedan. It is expected to compete with vehicles such as the Audi A6 or BMW 5 Series. This means that it must have luxurious materials. High-tech amenities such as self-driving assistance, and massaging chairs should also be available.
According to reports, the DS8 and DS9 use Peugeot-Citroen’s EMP2 platform which is already the foundation for the Peugeot508. A plug-in hybrid powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline motor would be one of the available powertrains. The DS7 Crossback E-Tense has a similar system that produces 296 horsepower (221 kilowatts), and 332 pound-feet (332 Newton-meters).
DS plans to electrify the lineup of its vehicles after 2025. This includes offering an EV. The brand is now part of the newly merged FCA/PSA. This means that there is a small chance that DS vehicles will be available in the United States. However, this seems unlikely. The sedan will be made available in Europe and China before that. Sales in certain markets will begin shortly after the debut.
