DYK: Captain America #Vanlifed In A Custom Chevy Cargo van

He also sleeps inside on a cot. This is not at all creepy.

Avengers Endgame is currently the most talked about movie in the world. A new Screen Rant video looks at Captain America’s less well-known superpowers. It also mentions an automotive-related, but largely forgotten, fact about Steve Rogers. He was part of #vanlife for a time, driving around in a customized Chevrolet van.

In 1986, Captain America’s Chevy first made an appearance in comic book issue 318. Although it looks like a regular van from the outside, engineers from Wakanda, the country where Black Panther rules, make major modifications to the interior. The exterior can be customized to suit Cap’s needs. Cool gadgets include a winch, rotating plates, a reinforced bumper for ramming and a security scope.

More from the Avengers:

The interior is even more wild, with a navigation system and a navigation system. This was a sci-fi feature according to 1986 standards. Cap’s iconic motorcycle is located in the back. There’s also an exit ramp at the rear for quick getaways on the bike. Rogers can sleep on a simple cot.

The Wakandans modified the van’s 4.752-liter (229-cubic inch) V8 with a twin-turbo configuration. According to Marvel Universe, the mill produces 210 horsepower (157kilowatts), and can return 30 miles per gallon at 55 mph – the Federal limit at that time. A 140-gallon (530 liter) fuel tank provides a driving range of 4,200 miles (6,759 kilometers) on one tank.

Although Cap was seen driving a van in 1970s TV movies, his customized Chevy has not yet been featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If Marvel decides to create an alternate universe Captain America TV show set in 1980s, the machine could be a nice touch. Imagine Knight Rider with Steve Rogers driving around trying to stop Hydra from infiltrating America.
