Project Venture and Project Dark Knight share the same bones, but have a different character.
East Coast Defender has returned with two new Land Rover creations that will keep the enthusiasts excited about the legendary off-roader. The company made a pair D110 Defenders according to customer specifications. However, they share a common body style but have very distinct personalities.
Tom Humble, East Coast Defender co-owner states that it’s an extraordinary journey for his clients. “Custom automotive design is the only company that allows customers to build their dream car from scratch.
The dream vehicles in this case are Project Venture and Project Dark Knight. The latter vehicle is the most important, but it is not a crime-fighting weapon. Its black exterior gives the SUV an intimidating appearance. The exterior has a full roll cage, as well as the tubular bumper and winch. The 20-inch polished wheels are the only thing that makes the car stand out from the darkness.
It’s quite different inside. The interior is a combination of brown and black and includes seating for six. A Sony infotainment system controls the booming stereo as well as other luxury add-ons. The 5.3-liter V8 from General Motors makes 320 horsepower (239kilowatts), and is connected to a six speed automatic.
Project Venture, by comparison, wows the world using actual color – in this instance a traditional Land Rover shade called Keswick Green. The exterior roll cage is finished in black. However, the basic bumper gives this off-roader a less apocalyptic feel. It still looks great with its 18-inch black wheels and all-terrain tires.
Interior accommodations are as luxurious as the Dark Knight’s, but gray is the preferred color for the Defender. Project Venture can hold seven passengers, but the same Sony infotainment system is found up front. The V8 beneath the hood of the vehicle is a 6.2-liter motor that produces 430 horsepower (321kW) and is also connected to a 6-speed auto.
