SVI Engineering, a South African armored car specialist has just released the followup to last year’s Max3 armored personnel carrier. The previous version was essentially a truck. SVI’s new release can hold up to eight people.

The SVI Max 3 Troopy is bulletproof and ready for anything. The Troopy, like the truck, is also based upon the 70 Series.Toyota Land Cruiser . Although you may think the Max 3 Troopy was a military vehicle (or a helicopter), SVI released a civilian version without the mounting points to mount rifles or heavy artillery. It doesn’t require permits from South Africa’s National Conventional Arms Control Committee, (NCACC), and can be used in a variety of industries including anti-riot, security and convoy services.

The Max 3 Troopy’s armored plates made of steel provide minimum EN1063 BR6 protection. It can withstand assault rifle fire. SVI offers enhanced protection, up to BR7, that can withstand blasts or personnel mines.

The Max 3 Troopy’s turbodiesel V8 engine produces 202 horsepower (151kW) and 317 pound feet (430 Newton-meters). The Max 3 Troopy can reach speeds of 87 mph (140 km/h). You can also get a higher load rating and upgraded suspensions. There is also an addition of a rear anti roll bar.

SVI stated that pricing depends on the vehicle’s condition and configuration. Prices start at 1.8million South African rand or approximately $128,000 depending on current exchange rates.
