Although there are some elements that look familiar from the Mustang, the designer makes many changes to the design.
The Ford Mustang Mach–E is poised to electrify the iconic American nameplate. A new rendering by The Adan Channel takes this innovative move further by creating a Mustang Shelby motorcar. Although the basic cues of the pony car can still be seen, the designer isn’t afraid to add some new details to the body.
Because electric vehicles don’t require the same cooling requirements, the designer places a pair instead of one pair of lights in the middle of the front. The splitter is located underneath and there is still an inlet at each corner. The section that looks like the tip of the hood is actually a flying-buttress-esque element that connects the areas between the headlights.
The Mustang fastback style roofline is still present. This is the closest thing to the past. The fenders are wide at both ends and point sharply at the sides to accent the vehicle’s lines.
The back of the vehicle has a large wing that attaches below the taillights. A massive diffuser is located in the lower fascia.
The interior is traditional in appearance, but it’s not as bare as one would expect for a race car. It is very simple and has a minimal number of switches and buttons. It is certainly eye-catching with the combination of green, gray and blue colors.
The electric touring car racing scene is just beginning to take shape at a high level. The ETCR series will feature vehicles such as the Alfa Romeo Giulia or Hyundai Veloster at the track. A Mustang like it would make a great addition to the lineup.
