Electric Lego Corvette ZR1 with Manual Gearbox Hits the ‘Dyno.

Scale engineering at its best.

We knew that Lego would make the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 a great addition to its lineup in 2019. It was the most cost-effective way to buy a ZR1, and it was very exciting. However, for one enthusiast of automotive, the stock Lego model wasn’t enough. He took it to a whole new level.

The video user above purchased a 2019 Corvette ZR1 and installed an electric powertrain. This includes a small DC electric motor, and – lo and behold! A four-speed manual gearbox. You can also row your own gears in a Lego car.

The creator of this project explains what he has done so far, and shows how the ignition and transmission of the car work. You have to turn the engine of the ZR1 on, which is done by turning the sound-recording V8 Corvette.

This car is a rocket in Lego’s Lego world if you consider it for a second. It has a mid-engine design. The best thing is that you can monitor the powertrain’s behavior using special software and wheel-mounted sensors. The instrument cluster provides information about your car, but it is not a dyno so we can’t see the powertrain’s output.

One commenter in the video said that “everything about it is absolutely amazing” and that “the attention to detail was just astonishing.” We couldn’t agree more, and we can’t wait for more videos to show the project.
