Remember the famous episode of Oprah in the mid 2000s where every person in the audience received a Pontiac G6. Fast forward almost 20 years and the G6 has long since disappeared. Pontiac may be long gone, but Ford F-150 Lightning is back. A school teacher in Atlanta, Georgia, just got his own automotive talk-show surprise thanks to The Ellen Show. Michael Bonner is the owner and operator of this new website. 2022 F-150 Lightning After “winning” a round blindfolded musical chair during the show. The game was a trick to give Bonner an actual shock. Bonner danced while Ellen explained the plot to the audience. The fake contestants left the stage with their blindfolds on, and the music was playing. Bonner was a past guest on the show with his students, and Ellen apparently remembered. Bonner, who was confused by the music, turned around when the doors opened to reveal a brand new F-150 Lightning.
Although we don’t have any details about the truck itself, we can see Lariat on the charging door. If you have the standard-range battery, it will cost you $68,000. The price of the extended-range battery jumps to $78,000. This gives the truck an additional 580 horsepower and a range of 320 m.
This surprise giveaway is just in time for the F-150 Lightning’s official production launch. It coincides with Teacher Appreciation Week, which started May 2. Ford clearly participated in the giveaway. Jim Farley, CEO of the company, offered his congratulations to Bonner via Twitter. The 2022 F-150 Lightning is priced at less than $40,000 for the Pro model. Destination charges are not included. The XLT has additional features and the option of an extended-range battery pack. The Lariat builds upon the XLT options and offers the F-150 Lightning Platinum, which is the ultimate range-topper. Ford’s electric pickup is standard with an extended-range battery, and costs $90,874.
