The most recent prototypes should therefore be fairly representative of the final product.
Although the Tesla Cybertruck, which was most recently spotted, looks very similar to the concept/prototype shown in November 2019, some significant changes have been made. Elon Musk said that no major changes were coming to the Cybertruck’s design, and he stated in an interview that it was “finally locked down.”
We noticed the most significant changes in the past year: the new windscreen wipers (no they aren’t lasers but they might extend somehow since they look too short for the huge windscreen), rear-wheel steering, production-spec side mirrors, and the disappearance physical door handles (which is a great idea).
We were also able to see the Cybertruck’s final design. It features a similar layout to the Tesla Model S and Model X dashboards, with a driver display complementing the large central infotainment screen. The Cybertruck dash is very similar to a Model S/X but with more angular shapes.
Musk stated that Tesla’s main focus now is to build the truck. Musk points out, however, that the industry’s shortage of semiconductors will not be corrected no matter what the automaker does.
He estimates that although the Cybertruck’s design will not be altered, they can prepare and tool up for production at Texas Gigafactory. However, it is still twelve months away. Elon’s current estimate doesn’t account for any other obstacles they might encounter on their way to production.
