An in-depth video explains the details of Volkswagen’s new flagship.
The new Volkswagen Touareg is a forbidden fruit in America for those who want to own posh SUVs. It was launched in Beijing last month. The third generation of the SUV was shown to the public in Hamburg, Germany, before its debut in China. Moreover, the YouTube channel Autogefuhl team visited the new vehicle to test it out.
The R-Line model is the first in the video. Customers will also have the option to purchase the 2019 Touareg In Atmosphere or Elegance trims. All of these will be placed above the base version. The VW model was allowed to be filmed was a high-end version, with many equipment including large 21-inch alloy wheels and matrix LED headlights. We see the round exhaust finisher, which houses the real round tailpipe. It’s only eight minutes long.
The Elegance version has full leather upholstery. However, a cheaper version will be available (at least in Germany) that includes fabric. The Touareg came with almost all the amenities, including an electrically adjustable steering column, head-up display, night vision and remote heating.
After taking a look at the infotainment, Autogefuhl’s Thomas climbs on to the reclining rear seats. You can adjust the bench by moving the bench forward 16 centimeters (6.3 in) to increase cargo space. The Touareg’s extended wheelbase makes it extremely spacious in the back, with plenty of room for you to stretch your legs. Even for a tall man like the host, there is plenty of headroom.
Atmosphere trim in cream features an optional panoramic sliding sunroof. It measures 1270 mm (50″) long by 825mm (32″) wide and is the largest Volkswagen has ever installed. You can tilt it up, and an electric sunshade reduces sun radiation.
The new Touareg will be available in China and Europe starting later this year with six-cylinder gasoline engines and diesel engines. A plug-in hybrid engine and a 664-lb (900-Nm), V8 diesel diesel will follow.
