The NHTSA regulations are too strict for the Italian automaker.
Pagani is issuing a recall to address issues with the car’s starting and running. The Pagani owners who use their Pagani to take their children to school and pick up groceries every day will be upset by this recall. It’s not true. Only 16 of the 2017 Huayra BC Coupes and Roadsters are affected by this recall.
The issue is with the battery management program, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This software may not provide enough power to either start or stop the car from running at idle. In the wrong circumstances, such an issue can be deadly.
Pagani will fix the problem by replacing the battery with one that uses a non-stalling management software. This fix is provided at no cost. Pagani has yet to provide a timeframe for when the fix will be available.
This recall is not a major problem considering the complexity of Pagani cars and the small number they are produced. In 2012, the automaker introduced the Huayra. It succeeded the Zonda. The entire supercar is made of carbon fiber by the Huayra.
The engine is a Mercedes_AMG biturbocharged, 6.0-liter V12 under the hood. Pagani initially produced 100 copies of the supercar, before starting a second batch of 20 cars in 2016, which became the BC Coupe. The original Huayra’s V12 produced 720 horsepower, but Pagani increased power to 745 horsepower for the BC Coupe. The horsepower rose to 754 when Pagani removed his roof and built the Roadster.
You can contact the NHTSA if you have any questions, concerns or comments about your Pagani Huayra BC Coupe/Roaster. Pagani will reach out to owners for more information.
