Exclusive rendering: New Renault Captur looks all grown up

The cute crossover brand wants to keep its title as the best-selling car in this segment.

New entries are expected to join Europe’s fastest growing automotive segment later in the year. There are many cute models in the small crossover/SUV category on the Old Continent that are competing for the title of best-selling vehicle. This exclusive rendering by our artists shows what the French company is planning for their small crossover.

The Captur will not take a radical design change, as you can see in the attached gallery. Although the overall vehicle shape will not change, the C-pillar at the rear should make the roof more sloped and give the Captur a sleeker appearance. The most significant changes will be made to the front of the vehicle, where the Captur will receive Renault the familiar C-shaped LED daytime running lamps.

We expect that the interior will be conservative in design and mirror the Talisman and Megane dashboards. In the higher-end versions, expect a large vertical tablet to be located in the center console.

The new Captur should be powered by Renault-Nissan’s CMF-B platform. The next generation Clio will share the underpinnings with the replacement for Nissan’s Juke Europe. The new 1.3-liter turbo gasoline engine from the company should be included in the powertrain options.

The new Captur will be competing against the next-generation Peugeot 2008, which is currently in development.
