reports indicated that the fourth generation Scirocco would be released sometime in 2015. However, Volkswagen appears to be working on a minor facelift for the current model. Before the end of 2015, the third-gen Scirocco will have a minimally revised design and go on sale in the spring.
The prototype was hidden behind its front fascia, which will include redesigned headlights and a new grille. It was tested in the southwest United States. While the exterior looks almost identical, the interior will be given a slight makeover.
The fact that Scirocco’s current generation is on sale since 2008 means that a facelifted Scirocco has been tested suggests that its successor is still some years away. The car was seen in the United States, so it could have been spotted there. However, the Manager of Product and Technology at Volkswagen of America Mark Gillies recently stated that the company is open to considering future models for the market.
He said that the Scirocco was not designed for this market and it never was. Therefore, there is little chance of seeing a facelifted version of the current-gen Sicorcco here in America. It is hard to believe that Volkswagen is testing a facelifted Sicrocco outside of the country they intend to sell it.
