They can win or lose. All they do is whine.
This Wheels video clip shows all hell breaking loose. All hell is breaking out near Denver, Colorado at Bandimere Speedway. In this instance, we are referring to Dodge Challenger Hellcats. This video features a beefy muscle car that is the star, with two standard Hellcats and two Redeyes battling it out for supercharged Hemi supremacy.
This means that we will assume there are two standard Hellcats as well as two Redeyes. The distinguishing features of the Hellcats are their single-center hood scoops. The Redeyes have dual nostrils. Although it would be easy to swap hoods between the cars, we are unsure if they are stock or modified. We believe that some of these cars may have add-ons based on the quarter-mile times and Bandimere Speedway’s elevation at 5,800 feet above sealevel. All supercharged. Even cars with forced induction can lose some power when you get into thinner air.
This brings us to the first side by side pass. It features a red Hellcat in one lane and a maroon (Octane Red, for Mopar lovers) Redeye right next to it. Two vantage points are available for this pass. Both clearly show Redeye taking the victory. The win is not easy though as both cars move forward with strong launches, and in fact, the Hellcat seems to have an early lead. For the second half, the Redeye’s power advantage is evident. The Redeye finishes in 10.8 seconds, compared to 11.2 for Hellcat. These times are very healthy for a track that is more than a mile above the sea level.
Redeye also appears in the near lane wearing his Plum Crazy purple shade. This car may not be stock. It’s also running drag radials at the back. It passes in 10.4 seconds, which is a good speed for a stock Redeye at low elevation. The Hellcat, which was clearly not running drag radials and had an untidy launch due to it, finished second. The video ends with the Plum Crazy redeye doing another solo run, reinforcing its previous run with a 10.5 second sprint.
Drag strip is a great place for Challengers. It is always wonderful to see modern muscle machines get proper exercise in their natural environment.
