These cars are featured in FCA’s third quarter sales chart.
We reported earlier this week on Dodge selling two new Vipers during the third quarter 2020, despite the fact that the sports car was demolished in mid-August 2017, when the last V10 engine rolled down Conner Avenue Assembly Plant. FCA’s Q3 sales charts shows that there are many other names that have failed to sell new cars in the past quarter.
The sales chart now shows a second Dodge, as someone purchased a Dodge Dart. This brings the total for 2020 to six. The sales of the compact sedan have fallen by 54 percent in comparison to the full-year of 2019, when 13 new cars were produced. The Viper was actually the Dart’s predecessor. The last Dart produced at FCA Belvidere Assembly in September 2016 was the last.
The Chrysler 200 is mechanically similar to the Dodge Dart. In Q3, four Chrysler 200s were sold by FCA. Seven people purchased the compact sedan in the first three quarters, which is an 84 percent decrease on the 45 sold during 2019. When the last Chrysler 200 was built at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant, it effectively died.
Jeep Patriot is the last zombie vehicle that appears in the sales charts. In Q3 2020, one unit was sold, bringing the total up to two. FCA sold 21 SUVs last year. This means that sales have fallen by 90%. The Patriot was discontinued by the Belvidere Assembly Plant in December 2016, much like the Jeep Compass.
The Ram C/V Tradesman cargo van didn’t sell in the third quarter. However, someone did buy one earlier in the year. Before being discontinued, the utilitarian vehicle coexisted briefly with the ProMaster City for a time. The sales of its successor are not as good as in 2019, with sales down 25% to 7,438 units through Q3.
