The car will start racing next year. However, testing is ongoing.
Ferrari’s brand image is built around racing, which goes beyond Formula One. Here’s an example of the Ferrari 296 GT3 currently under development at Fiorano’s test track.
This is a better view of the 296 GT3 than the earlier teaser which only showed the car in shadow. Although the machine’s body is camouflaged, Ferrari’s design team can’t hide the aerodynamic improvements that make it perform better on the track.
The lower fascia has been redesigned and is concave against the ground. The splitter is prominent, with vertical sections at each corner. The outer edges of each body have canards. Each front fender’s top has prominent louvers. A vent is located near the middle of each hood.
The wider track can be seen from the rear third-quarter view. This requires a revised bodywork around doors. Designers also stretched the rear fenders.
The engine is not visible through rear deck unlike the production 296 GTB. However, it appears that there are tiny vents in this panel.
Two round exhaust pipes protrude from the rear end. This is a more practical look than the trapezoidal outlet in the middle of the road-legal model. Both cars have a prominent diffuser. However, the one on the race car has a larger one.
Ferrari also released a statement confirming that the Ferrari 296 GT3 had passed its Fiorano evaluation. This development involved a mixture of doing a few laps as well as longer stints. There were also pit stop checks. Alessandro Pier Guidi, a two-time 24 Hours of Le Mans GTE Pro winner, was one of the test drivers.
“I was delighted with the results of the two days of testing here in Fiorano. Guidi stated that the Ferrari 296 GT3 was a joy to drive. “Obviously, the testing of the systems and reliability was the main focus at this stage, but we are happy with the data that we have gathered.”
Because the racing regulations prohibit electrical assistance, the non hybrid GT3 will use the GTB’s twin turbocharged 3.0-liter V6. It will replace the 488 GT3Evo and 488 GT3Evo.
