You’ll be oblivious if you blink.
Drag-strip-friendly Dodge Demon can do the 0-60 mph sprint (96 km/h) in 2.3 seconds. However, the attached onboard footage shows that there is at least one other production model (that isn’t a hypercar) that’s just as fast. The new Ferrari Pista is a 488 GTB, on the best steroids prescribed by Maranello doctors. It keeps the passenger seat, not the Challenger.
ArabGT was able to test drive a Ferrari Pista prototype, and then put it through its paces during an acceleration test. Based on data loggers mounted inside the car, the 0-62 (0-100 km/h) time took 2.26 seconds. If this number is accurate, it would mean that the Pista takes almost six tenths less time in real life than what the specs sheet claims (2.85 seconds).
The Pista was also tested against high-performance cars like the McLaren 720S and Porsche 911 GT2 RS. The task took 6.94 seconds, which is a lot shorter than Ferrari’s 7.6 second figure.
Even if the numbers are correct, we can’t deny that the Pista is much faster than initially believed. However, it sounds too good to be true. The go-faster 488 GTB is very fast and Ferrari has been lying to you in a good way.
Tesla still claims that the new Roadster can go from 0-60 mph (96 kph), in 1.9 second. The “special option package” will make it even faster. Taiwan’s Xing Mobility promises a sub-2.0s time with their Miss R, which can propel itself to 62 mph in a remarkable 1.8 second. Next-generation machines will be able to make incredible performances thanks to the electric revolution. We cannot wait.
