Ferrari’s 488 Pista is the most powerful V8 road-going in Ferrari’s history.
Ferrari unveils the new 488 Pista Several In February, weeks ago The 2018 Geneva Motor Show offers the chance to see the Prancing Horse in person, and not in staged photos. It’s still a stunning sight under the Swiss lights.
For those who want more speed and exclusivity than the 488, the Pista is for them. Ferrari increases the output of the 3.9-liter biturbo engine to 711 horsepower (530 Kilowatts) & 568 pound-feet (707 Newton-meters) making it the most powerful road-going V8 Ferrari has ever made. The 488 GTB’s standard engine has undergone many mechanical improvements, including new cams, stronger pistons, stronger intercoolers, titanium connecting rods and Inconel exhaust manifolds. Race mode allows drivers to shift in 30 milliseconds thanks to improvements to the seven speed dual-clutch gearbox.
The front is where the Pista’s most noticeable visual changes are. The front bumper is where air flows through. Ducting directs it through a large vent in the hood. This creates more downforce at high speeds, and allows for more air to pass through. This gives the coupe a very aggressive look. Ferrari uses more materials from motorsport, such as carbon fiber and Alcantara, inside.
Pista in Italian means track, which is where Ferrari wants this coupe to go. The company’s engineers used carbon fiber to make the hood, bumpers and rear spoiler, which allowed for faster lap times around circuits. The optional carbon fiber wheels can be ordered in a lighter weight than the GTB. A new oversteer management system was also introduced by the company. This is said to make the car easier at the limit.See what Ferrari owners have to say about the new 488 Pista
