Would you rather purchase an used Enzo engine, or a brand-new 812 Superfast?
Are you a proud owner of a project car that sits in your garage, on jack stands and with an empty engine bay. You’re in luck, because eBay currently has a 2003 Ferrari Enzo V12 motor for sale. The naturally aspirated 6.0-liter V12 generates 650 horsepower at 7,800 RPM and 485 lb-ft of torque at 5,500 RPM. The heart of the Ferrari that many consider the best road-legal Ferrari can be delivered right at Christmas for $375,000 It has only 900 miles.
The Enzo has 12 cylinders, each with their own naturally aspirated monstrosity behind the driver’s seat. It is basically a Ferrari roadcar with a Formula One motor in the middle. The exhaust pipes make a loud and ominous sound that will bring back memories of Formula 1’s glory days.
Maranello’s halo vehicle at the time, Ferrari worked hard to create an engine that would be worthy of the Enzo designation. It was codenamed F140 and was essentially a race engine designed for cars with number plates. This V12 engine was designed for more than just driving down Pacific Coast Highway or Rodeo Drive. It has dual overhead camshafts and a compression ratio 11.2:1. For crying out loud, it even comes with a dry sump system.
This Enzo V12 would be a great choice if money was not an issue. A brand new 812 Superfast can be purchased for just $335,000. This is a difficult decision. However, keep in mind that the engine does not come with a transmission. This could be the deal-breaker.
