Ferrari must build this car.
Some truly exquisite supercars are already on display at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Ferrari unveiled its new HTML8 Tributo last week. It is based on the 488 GTB with a significantly revised styling and a twin-turbo V8 that produces 720 horsepower. Although the car will make its official debut in Geneva this week, there is already a topless rendering by X–Tomi Design.
The F8 photo gallery shows that the fan render is not just an F8 with its roof digitally removed. The F8’s retro-themed touch – the louvered engine covers that pay homage to Ferrari F40 – is gone from the reimagined Ferrari. It is identical to the 488 Spider’s design and looks great. The louvered, see-through cover would be great to keep. It’s also very cool. We don’t think Ferrari could make a convertible F8. A removable Targa roof, similar to the 308 GTS, could be an option. This model would be a good match for the F8’s retro cues. The 308 GTB’s curved rear spoiler arrangement and quad taillight arrangement are the inspirations for the car’s new backside. Maybe a Ferrari F8 GTS Tributo is in the future.
The F8 is a powerful machine, with or without a roof. The 3.9-liter V8 engine produces the same output as the 488 Pista. The redesigned body borrows aero cues from the hardcore model to improve downforce. Ferrari also gave the F8 a different diet than the 488. The car weighs in at just over 2,900 lbs (1,315 kg). Although the F8 would be lighter without a roof, there is nothing like the excitement of hearing the V8’s shriek behind your head and nothing but open skies above.
