Daytona SP3 Testing, or Next-Gen Hypercar?
This Ferrari LaFerrari is without a doubt the most sketchy Ferrari LaFerrari that you’ll ever see. It comes straight from Maranello. Although this is not the first time that we have seen this Ferrari test mule, it raises interesting questions.
This video is from Varryx, a supercar spotter on YouTube. We often see exotic Italian exotics in action. We last saw a LaFerrari body test car in October 2021. This was about one month before the debut for the Daytona SP3. Although it was slightly different from the test car in the new video, we can confirm that this exact vehicle was captured on camera last July. These cars could have been test mules for Ferrari’s next-generation hypercar or the next Icona model.
Although the Daytona SP3 was indeed next Icona model this test mule appears to be still in active service and looks just as bad as ever. The bonnet looks wavy and misaligned. There’s tape on passenger side and the upper part of the rear fascia looks as confused as a desperate politician. The quad exhaust tips seem to point in and towards the corners. However, we don’t believe they are connected to anything. The brown screen in the middle seems like it is shielding the center-exit exhaust. You also know that Ferrari’s center-exit exhaust was recently revealed. It’s the Daytona SP3.
We are now questioning the intent of this test vehicle. There’s no reason for testing to be hidden with mules like these, now that the SP3 has been revealed. This suggests that the car conceals equipment for the SP3, not for a future Ferrari hypercar. It could also be used as an evaluation car for the Daytona SP3. It doesn’t necessarily mean that the test cars are obsolete just because they’re revealed. Perhaps it’s just being checked out for a final drive before heading to the crusher.
We don’t care what it is, but we are happy to see Ferrari still working on new cars. We will be looking for information on the LaFerrari test vehicles and their purpose.
