Ferrari unveiled the P540 Superfast Aperta.
The company’s Special Projects division created the Aperta for American Edward Walson, the son of the man who invented cable TV. It was named after the Carrozzeria Fantuzzi Ferrari that appeared in the movie Toby Dammit.
Ferrari claims that the car was built in Maranello by Pininfarina. The client was involved in every stage of its development. The donor 599 GTB Fiorano coupe is an example of a coupe. Finite element analysis was used in the development process to strengthen the chassis. Carbon-fiber was extensively used to reduce the weight by 20 kg (44lbs). It took only 14 months to build the final road-legal car from the initial sketches.
The Aperta’s V12 engine produces 456 kW (620 horsepower) and 608 Nm torque, just like the 599 GTB. Ferrari claims that the Aperta has a combined fuel efficiency rating of 17.9 L/100 km and CO2 emissions of 415g/km.
