Ferrari Portofino Model M Revealed with More Power and Eight-Speed Auto

Portofino Modificata includes an additional 20 prancing horses.

Three years have passed since Ferrari replaced California T with the Portofino, and the grand tourer is currently getting an update. There are more changes than the usual nip-and-tuck, as the Italian sheet metal has been discreetly updated. A new eight-speed, dual clutch automatic transmission is the main feature of these innovations.

The same can be said about the increase in output of the twin-turbo, 3.9-liter V8, which now makes an additional 20 horsepower in the Portofino M(Modificata). The new cabrio is capable of producing 612 horsepower (456 Kilowatts) or 561 pound-feet (761 Newton-meters), and the torque amount has been carried over from non-M models.

The Portofino M, even though it is the entry-level model in the Italian stable of cars, still performs like a Ferrari. From a standstill, it takes 3.45 seconds to reach 62 mph (100 km/h), and can do 0-124 mph (0-200km/h) in 9.8 seconds. It then goes on to top out at more than 200 mph (320 km/h). The 0-124 mph time has been cut by a full second thanks to the faster gearbox and extra power. However, the 0-60 mph run is slightly quicker (0.05 seconds). The top speed is unchanged.

According to Maranello, the Portofino M is the first Ferrari to be exclusively revealed online. It features some visual changes that give the convertible hardtop a more aggressive appearance. The interior features a Manettino dial that has five positions and a Race mode. Ferrari also offers new options such as heated and ventilated seats and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

Ferrari will follow the Portofino M by the end the year with another world debut. We have seen spy photos of prototypes testing the identity of the model, which suggests it to be an modified version of the 812 Superfast.
