The debut will take place later in the year.
We now have the first official look at Ferrari’s new SUV after years of planning. We are treated to a front-on view of the Porosangue, which shares a shadowed photo on its social media channels. It shows a smiling face, an intimidating stance and two prancing horses.
This is a teaser image from Ferrari. This view of the controversial SUV shows more shadow than light. We adjusted the light level to make it more visible. Ferrari’s social media posts were mostly dark, with some highlights.
We were curious so we turned the light up to maximum. To our surprise, there was a full SUV hiding in the darkness. This is not the most beautiful image and details are still hidden. Here’s an example of what the Ferrari Purosangue might look like if it appears in your rearview mirror as you drive through Monaco.
The Purosangue was first mentioned by Ferrari in their 2018 product roadmap. The Purosangue survived despite being ravaged by a pandemic, a war and an economic downturn. Ferrari also included a message on their website urging people to “stand ready for a true game-changer.” All details will be revealed in the coming months.
Ferrari is to be commended for keeping the Purosangue under wraps. This is both literally and metaphorically, since most spy photos were taken by test mules with janky Maserati Levante bodywork. Some speculated that the Purosangue was a rebadged Maserati. However, it will be riding on Ferrari’s new front mid-engine architecture. A V12 engine is possible, as well as a hybrid V6 version that’s similar to the 296 GTB.
We have only recently seen actual Purosangue prototypes being tested in public, heavily covered in camouflage. Ferrari has released a teaser that is surprisingly transparent, so it’s possible that those camo covers will soon come off. The first Ferrari SUV will arrive this year.
