It will not account for more than 20% of Ferrari’s annual total shipments.
Let’s go back in time to September 2018, when Ferrari announced the Purosangue at its Capital Markets Day. It hasn’t been revealed for nearly four years, but it is almost over. The house of Maranello will unveil its first ever SUV in September with the powerful V12 engine. Today’s announcement was made at the Capital Markets Day event, during which other details were also revealed.
The Prancing Horse is determined to keep the Purosangue (relatively speaking) unique by restricting shipments to customers to less than 20 percent of total annual deliveries. The SUV will not be sold in any of the five new Ferraris after 2023. It is not using the term SUV anymore. The brand only said that the model would be unique.
We are also told that it will be a pure V12 model, meaning it will be powered by an naturally aspirated engine. It is refreshing to know that there will be an NA V12 model for many years, despite stricter emission regulations.
The Purosangue will represent about 20% of all sales. However, the Icona series as well as the new hypercar are far more exclusive. Ferrari claims it will limit these vehicles to less than 5 per cent of total deliveries. The Special Series models such as the 812 Competizione/ 812 Competizione B will account for around 10 percent.
60% of all offerings by 2026 will feature hybrid and purely electrical powertrains. The remaining 40% will be powered by ICE-powered vehicles. Ferrari is not yet clear on the powertrains of the V12, although we know that it produces 830 horsepower in the 812 Competizione. A more powerful configuration was also announced.
The Purosangue will see Ferrari join Rolls-Royce and Lamborghini as high-end brands that have their own SUVs. McLaren is expected to followby end of decade.
