This recall is part of the safety recall that Ferrari has issued in the US for similar reasons.
Due to potential brake problems, Ferrari has recalled its Type F142M and Type F142M sports vehicles in China. The recall was announced by the State Administration for Market Regulation in China on Friday at local time. However, the recall will start on May 30, 2022. The reason for the delay was not disclosed.
These are the supercars that China’s market regulators have identified as being affected by the recall: 458 Italia and 458 Speciale, 458 Speciale-A, 458 Speciale-A, 458 Speciale-A, 458 Spider A, 458 Speciale-A, 458 Speciale B, 458 Spider, 408 GTB, 488 Spider, and 488 Spider. These models were imported in March 2010 through March 2019.
This announcement was made in China as part of the global recall which reached the US shores last summer. Around 9,985 units were affected by the Recall Campaign Number 21V833000 issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on October 23, 2021. The brake system could leak, leading to a decrease in braking power.
Ferrari is working with Bosch to resolve the problem. According to Ferrari, the problem is caused by a reservoir fluid cap that doesn’t properly vent. This can lead to a vacuum in the reservoir of brake fluid, which could cause brake fluid to leak.
“The safety and well-being of our clients is our top priority.” Ferrari stated in a statement that they follow strict safety and security guidelines in order to make sure the correct procedures and systems are in place at all time.
Ferrari owners in the US should’ve been notified at this time, but we can’t speak for Chinese customers. The previous NHTSA Campaign does not indicate any remedial actions for the problem. However, replacement parts are likely to be in order.
If you have any suspicions that your Ferrari may be affected by the recall, contact your dealer immediately. Brakes are an essential part of any vehicle, especially if it is a Ferrari.
