Ferry Chock Full Of McLaren F1s is Better Than Any Car Show

There are no turbochargers or automatic gearboxes.

This is the place to be. McLaren F1 owners gathered for a tour to celebrate their 30 th anniversary. Many stunning examples were captured on a ferry that crossed Lake Garda, Italy in what Gordon Murray must have considered his favorite YouTube video.

The festival featured naturally aspirated V12s and included many road cars, as well as the F1 GTR longtail and the F1 GTR Longtail . McLaren only made 106 cars, so it is rare to see so many of them together. This must have been the most valuable cargo that was carried by ferry on that day, as the value of these supercars powered by BMW has skyrocketed over recent years.

Below is a separate video showing more than 10 F1s taking advantage of the beautiful scenery offered by northern Italy. A prototype of the Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 , which is a prototype for the Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA), was also present at the event, complete with its huge rear fan. This prototype will be as rare as the inspiration it came from, with only 100 being made at $3 million each.

McLaren F1 was clearly the star of the show, with a P1 as a support vehicle. XP4, an experimental prototype, is captured on camera. It shows the beginnings of the three-seater machine with its centrally mounted steering column. We’d prefer to have a road car without any aerodynamic tweaks. With forced induction and EVs, the design is starting to age like fine wine. The engine noise will only get worse.

The F1 GTR with the big white “LARK” decal and the #60 made headlines earlier in the year for a funny reason. The owner accidentally filled his mid-engined car with diesel fuel. On social media, he admitted to the mistake and shared his embarrassing story.
