Fiat unveiled the new TwinAir twin-cylinder engine, 900cc TwinAir, to celebrate the third anniversary celebrations of the 500.
The TwinAir engine will be available on the 500C and 500C in September. It features MultiAir technology and optimised fluid dynamics to maximize fuel efficiency. Although the company did not release full specs, it stated that the engine produced 85 PS (63kW/84 bhp).
Fiat will eventually introduce two-cylinder engines that produce 65 to 105 PS (48kW / 65 BHP to 78kW /104 bhp). They will emit 30% less carbon dioxide than engines with equal performance.
Fiat also announced the launch of the updated Blue&Me-Tom infotainment platform this fall. It integrates navigation and telephone functions into a touchscreen interface.
More information will be available at the Paris Motor Show in Sept.
