Fiat 500e New Model Unveiled Ahead of 2020 U.S. Return

Featuring a familiar look, but with a new platform.

Fiat’s 2018-2022 roadmap features the launch of a new generation 500 hatchback. It is expected to debut at next year’s Geneva Motor Show. We now have spy photos of the zero-emission urban vehicle.

Although it looks almost identical to the 500, the new model will be riding on a new platform built with electrification. We don’t have any details about the powertrain for the 500e at this time, but we expect to see more power and longer range from the 500e ‘s 111 horsepower (83 Kilowatts/147 pound-feet) and 84-miles (135 km) on a single charge.

Previous reports suggested that Fiat might cease operations in America. However, the latest gossip has it that the new 500 Electric will be arriving at this end of the big lake for the model year 2021. The 500 Giardiniera wagon will make a long-awaited comeback. It will be class-leading in space, have a unique design, and feature a five-door layout.

Fiat will continue to offer traditional 500 models, including the combustion-powered versions of the Italian hatch. They will be priced higher in an attempt to make the supermini an “urban Tesla”, as previously reported.

Fiat’s small car architecture could be used to make a new generation Panda. This was shown by the Centoventi concept, which was unveiled in March. The electric offensive is the largest investment by Fiat.
