Fiat 500X Facelift Revealed With Minor Visual Tweaks

The design updates for the small SUV will mirror those of the 500.

Fiat will unveil a major update to its strategy next week. This is believed to include a significant shakeup in the company’s production plans. A recent report claims that the automaker will stop the Italian production for nearly all of its vehicles, with the exception of the Panda, and 500, in all versions.

The 500’s rugged, high-riding version is due to get a facelift before the end of 2018. We wouldn’t be surprised if the model makes its official debut at the Paris Motor Show later this year. These renderings show what we expect to be a minor update for the model. It will still be noticeable than the 500X update, which introduced a variety of new colors and a larger touchscreen display.

The mid-cycle update will go far beyond colors and include a revised front fascia, redesigned headlights, and new circular daytime running lamps. These were previewed in our virtual drawings. New round lamps will replace the square fog lamps at the lower bumper. The only change to the rearside design will be a set of stylish LED taillights that have a central section in body color.

According to reports, Fiat may give its small SUV an eight-speed auto gearbox and a turbo gasoline engine of 2.0-liter. This is most likely for the U.S. market. Expect to see the 1.6-liter naturally-aspirated and 1.4-liter turbo gasoline units in Europe as well as the 1.3- and 1.5-liter diesels.

Interior improvements are not expected. Only certain trims and materials will have to be replaced in order to achieve a better overall feel. It is possible that a new infotainment system will be developed with a larger display, but this has not been confirmed.
