Already, the designs for the four new models were approved.

Fiat is planning the largest overhaul of its model range in 20 years. While Fiat has ambitious plans for Europe, the Italian manufacturer won’t forget South America or other markets around the globe. Fiat will launch four new vehicles on the Old continent, starting with a supermini next year.

Fiat currently sells the 500X in the USA, despite minimal sales of older models. However, the brand plans to expand its European range with four new models joining 500. Fiat will receive significantly more investments under Stellantis’ umbrella in the coming years, as opposed to the reduced investment in future products during FCA. Already, the designs for the four new models are approved.

A Ford Fiesta, a Volkswagen Polo and an Opel Corsa competitor will be the first to arrive. They are expected to be available with a combustion, hybrid and electric powertrain. According to Olivier Francois, Fiat boss, it will be Punto-sized but not Punto. It was discontinued by the Punto in 2018, but its indirect successor will make big bets on electrification. It will be responsible for Fiat’s transition to a line of zero-emissions models in 2027.

Francois said, “Fiat should become the people’s Tesla: electric is for all.” “Clearly, the cost of electrification must go down. We will be ready by 2027, but it could be earlier. Cost will play a major role. We want to be the first mass-market company to go electric-only.

The three other models will be crossovers, and one will be called Panda. The new model will not only adopt the famous name, but it will also reportedly surpass the original model’s minimalist approach and spirit. While the 500 will be available in Europe, it will also continue to be in high demand along with the completely redesigned 500e.

“You’ll see smaller cars, and larger crossovers, and you’ll recognize the Panda DNA. One will be named Panda. Panda was not famous for its shape, but because of its philosophy and spirit. We are trying to recreate that with some reminiscent design. Francois said that the Panda must be simple, rugged, and robust.
