Modular battery packs that can be customized to your exact specifications.
The Fiat Concept Centoventi will be debuting at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. It is more than just a preview of a high-riding city vehicle. The Fiat 120th Anniversary Edition is celebrated by the new Fiat Concept Centoventi. It also features an all-electric motortrain and a cabin design that owners can enhance with add-on accessories. This is a huge package.
Let’s begin with the style. We’d classify it as “totally adorable”. The Centoventi is compact and has virtually no rear or front overhangs. It follows tried-and-true small car tactics with large wheels and a boxy body. The Centoventi is also retro with its rectangular headlights, and upright fascia that recall vintage Fiats. However, there are some modern additions. Fiat’s classic hash marks are given an updated look with the Italian tricolor. A light-up Fiat logo reflects one of today’s most offensive design trends.
Fiat claims that the Centoventi will be powered by an all-electric motor that Fiat calls “the market’s best electric mobility solution.” However, Fiat mentions a modular battery pack that owners could use to increase the car’s range, presumably from a city-friendly 60 to 311 miles. This is just the beginning of the customization possibilities
Fiat claims that the Concept Centoventi can be customized in any way you like. Fiat’s concept car trope is back, but don’t be surprised if some of the details are still relevant. Centoventi will be available in a single, blank-slate configuration that owners can then customize using the 4U program. You can customize the Centoventi even after it is delivered. There are four roofs and bumpers, wheels covers, wraps and wheel covers available, as well as 120 additional accessories. Fiat claims that the Concept Centoventi allows owners to ‘change’ their vehicles at any time, and they no longer need to wait for special editions or facelifts.
This customization extends to your cabin. Fiat’s “plug and play” principle allows owners to add or remove items from the dash that has many small holes. Owners can also modify the sound system, dashboard and door storage compartments. Dealer assistance is required only for bumpers, wrap, instruments cluster, batteries, and the digital tailgate.
This car also has a digital tailgate. Another concept car trope that we hoped had died in 2000s is the lack of official images of the rear display. Fiat describes the functionality of the rear display, which includes the ability to change into a messenger mode from a standstill. Fiat says that the tailgate could be converted into an advertising billboard to help offset parking costs. Feel free to read the last graph.
Although there is no information on when Fiat will build a production version, the language used in this release suggests that the company is committed to the innovative ideas this car represents.
