It will be available in Europe starting in 2023.
The Topolino moniker was last used on a production vehicle over 60 years ago. Fiat plans to revive the iconic name with a new mini-electric vehicle. The design will not be entirely new, but instead it will be inspired by a Citroen zero-emissions vehicle.
According to Automotive News Fiat is set to receive the Citroen Ai version. The first prototype has been shown to dealers. The vehicle is slightly refined than the Citroen original, according to a dealer who saw it in person.
Because of its small size and low power, many European countries consider the Ami a quadricycle. You can drive it from age 14 to 16. This makes it great for urban and suburban areas. The Topolino will be available in cargo and passenger versions, and a convertible version with a soft-top canvas could be offered.
The Ami measures 2.41 meters (95 in) in length and can accommodate two adults. It is powered by an 8 horsepower (6 kilowatts) small electric motor. It can reach speeds of 28 mph (45 km/h) and has an impressive 7.2-meter turning circle. A WLTP-certified 75-kilometer (47-mile) range is possible with a single charge of a 5.5-kWh battery.
Fiat’s version will debut with the same tech specs, but according to Automotive News it could have a more luxurious cabin. The Topolino, just like the Citroen Ami and Opel Rocks-e, will be manufactured at Stellantis’ Kenitra plant. Once the Topolino is on the assembly line, the factory’s output will increase to 35,000 to 40,000.
