This is not something you should try to comprehend. Accept the absurdity.
This Garage 54 video was made without any Ladas being hurt. This experiment-gone-wild involves a Fiat Uno Hatchback. As you have no doubt seen, it is not unharmed. Here’s an eight-wheeled subcompact that you didn’t know you wanted in a world where automotive madness is rampant. You want it. That’s okay.
Do you really need eight wheels for a vehicle? You will need eight wheels if the vehicle has a huge diesel engine and can connect to a large trailer to transport goods. Ten wheels. The Fiat’s tiny gas engine can barely move it. It also doesn’t transport much snow, since the wheels at the top actually spin. Inside The interior. This design flaw was corrected shortly after the first test drive, although it still looks a little drafty for passengers.
The eight-wheeler gets a bright red paint job for unknown reasons. It actually looks great with the white wheels turning like mad. The counter-rotating top wheel creates a strange symmetry in our brains that is satisfying on an instinctive level. However, we don’t want to miss the opportunity to get behind the wheel. Only two of the eight wheels have the benefit of functional suspension, leaving the rest open to the elements. The Fiat’s back bounces on even smooth surfaces better than a six year old who is impatiently waiting for the bathroom after having drunk a gallon Kool-Aid.
It does work, however, and attracts attention on the streets. It is not practical and the Fiat front-wheel drive means there is no traction benefit. This gives us an idea. We covered Garage 54’s all-wheel-drive Lada a few weeks ago. That would not work.
