Let’s say you have $239,000 available to spend.
Since 2010, the Hummer brand is no longer in existence. If you are looking for a road-going Humvee, you will need to search the used market. Why settle for a used vehicle when you can buy a military-spec version? Mil-Spec Automotive, aptly named, is offering a custom-built Hummer H1 version – but it won’t be cheap.
The frame-off restoration was the first stage of the build. Mil-Spec increased the track width by 8 inches and painted the body with an “After-Burner Grey” finish. Then, a 6.6-liter turbocharged Diesel V8 was installed under the hood. The new engine generates 500 horsepower (372 Kilowatts) as well as 1,000 pound-feet (1.355 Newton-meters).
The cabin also gets a complete makeover. The front and rear seats are covered in waterproof, marine-grade leather. The look is completed by a fully customized dash and surround sound system, which are made from bespoke materials. Every vehicle is handmade at Mil-Spec in Wichita (Kansas) and comes in a variety of configurations.
There are four-door pickup hardtops, four door slant back hardtops, four-door pickup hardtops, four doors hardtop SUVs, four-door wagon hardtops, four-door pickup hardtops, and two-door extended pickup hardtop packages. The four-door SUV hardtop is the most expensive option. It costs an additional $28,999. The Mil-Spec M1 starts at $200,000, with options. However, the M1 Launch Edition, which is shown here, is slightly more expensive.
The M1 Launch Edition is number #003 in the series. It’s the first one to be made available to the public. This four-door pickup with hardtop configuration costs $13,999. It comes with a $5499 bold body and tire package and an aluminum offset snorkel for $699. The total asking price of the M1 Launch Edition comes to $239,000.
