This is the cost of owning a VIN 001 Corvette mid-engine.
Scottsdale, Arizona is no stranger to exceptional cars. The state has witnessed many firsts, such as the Barrett Jackson auction that saw the first production Toyota Supra, and the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 selling for $2.1million and $1.1 million, respectively.
Today’s auction saw the sale of lot 3007 of the first mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, which sold for $3-million at Barrett-Jackson.
Like the first Supra or Mustang Shelby GT500, proceeds from the VIN001 ‘Vette sale will be donated to charity, especially to the Detroit Children’s Fund, a non-profit that invests in quality schools in Detroit.
What’s the deal with the first 2020 Corvette coupe? The owner will be able to boast about the Corvette’s first production 2020 coupe in the 3LT trim, which includes all the options. It will have a black exterior and red seats with red trim. The Z51 performance package and performance data recorder will be included.
The winning bidder can also take delivery of his Corvette coupe at the Corvette plant, Bowling Green, Kentucky, with the remaining amount. The package includes a Corvette Museum hosted tour, a Letter of Authenticity and a unique artwork.
General Motors released a press release saying that Rick Hendrick submitted the winning bid shortly before the hammer fell. He is the founder and CEO at Hendrick Companies.
Hendrick stated, “I am number one Corvette junkie worldwide.” “Thanks to Chevrolet, Barrett-Jackson, for always picking charities that are so great and help so many people.
