The prototype heads off to the Nurburgring for laps on the pickup bed in the M3’s rear.
This is a BMW engineer building it as a favor for his hillbilly cousin. Maybe BMW is planning to play a big prank on us by playing the rather pompous Bavarian brand this April 1st. We don’t know.We know that the spy photographers just took a BMW M3 Pickup. Yes, that’s an M3 doing El Camino-style testing at the Nurburgring circuit.
They confirmed that the car was indeed registered to BMW. The vehicle also wears the black-and-white camouflage the automaker prefers. The M3 body has been reduced to two doors and the rear half converted into a pickup bed. BMW may need it to move parts quickly from one facility into another. Jalopnik has been told. Interestingly, today was also the first day in the 2011 Nurburgring testing season. You’d think that BMW would have more pressing issues.
